“Democratic” (insert laughter) socialism”
If we take “democratic” in the generic sense, to mean “free,” a “democratic socialist” is not democratic. The very nature of socialism requires increasing centralization of political authority to compel and coerce a nation’s citizens. There is no way that everyone will be on board with such a scheme. So it is that socialism’s main goal becomes the elimination of opposition through any means necessary and the institution of punitive measures to remain in power.
